Malcolm Wallop, U.S. Senator Wyoming-Ret., and Paul Mortensen consider calls for designation and worship of sacred lands by neo-pagans, obscure and famous. Copyright 1997 Washington Times Eyebrows raised. Had Congressman Chris Cannon actually
asked Southern Utah Wilderness Association representative Heidi
MacIntosh to state her personal and religious background during
June wilderness hearings in Washington, D.C.? MacIntosh, visibly
stunned by the question, responded that she was from Tucson,
Arizona, but failed to expound upon her religious beliefs.Religion
was mentioned by a Congressman from a Utah where the subject

Mortensen Samuel Casey Carter on..What Scriptures Tell Us About Environmental Stewardship "Embracing the tenets of radical environmentalism without an eye to the manner in which these teachings are fundamentally hostile to Christian tradition, a new brand of Christian is out to save the earth, but in so doing he may well flip his faith on its head," says Mr. Carter in his analysis of the neo-pagan Christian movement. "Christian environmentalists pride themselves on their interdisciplinary approach that blends scientific rigor with the fullest interpretation of the Gospel," he states. But, he continues, "Pantheism and paganism of any kind just don't allow for scientific inquiry." Rather "[b]ad environmental science fueled by fake religion can only hope to hurt everyone and everything." Authored 1998, reprinting authorized with attribution to author. |
